This artwork by Mario Mafai achieved an unexpectedly high price at Il Ponte in May 2021. In the Modern and Contemporary Art auction, the work Osteria romana (Osteria di Via Flaminia) sold for EUR 65,000.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mario Mafai - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Natura morta con manichino, maschera e abito rosso (recto); donna in abito da sera (verso), which sold at auction in October 2007 for GBP 96,500.00 (€ 138,580.35).
