Admittedly, works by Mario Mafai have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Natura morta con manichino, maschera e abito rosso (recto); donna in abito da sera (verso) in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 96,500.00 (€ 138,580.35).

Die Arbeit Il Caffé von Mario Mafai kam im November 2007 bei Sothebys in Mailand zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von EUR 33.850,00 und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 35 %. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mario Mafai auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Natura morta con manichino, maschera e abito rosso (recto); donna in abito da sera (verso) im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 96.500,00 (€ 138.580,35).
