The work When Sonia Was Five by Marina Cruz was worth HKD 375,000.00 (€ 44,129.72) to a buyer in October 2016. This price was achieved in the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 70,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Marina Cruz; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Blushed and Blemished sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of HKD 630,000.00 (€ 74,794.52).
