In May 2019 Phillips in Hong Kong held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale, which included the work US Letter Painting #25 by Maria Taniguchi. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 75,000.00 (€ 8,583.73), 36% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Maria Taniguchi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in October 2020 with an auction result of HKD 441,000.00 (€ 48,844.34).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 36 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2019 führte Phillips in Hong Kong die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit US Letter Painting #25 von Maria Taniguchi zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 75.000,00 (€ 8.583,73) und damit 36% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Maria Taniguchi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ohne Titel im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 441.000,00 (€ 48.844,34).
