Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Margaret Mellis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March 2018. In the Made in Britain auction, the work Aldeburgh Boats sold for GBP 5,250.00 (€ 5,977.41) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,500.00. Admittedly, works by Margaret Mellis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Scarlet Undercurrent in June 2017 with an auction result of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 28,470.34).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Margaret Mellis erzielte im März 2018 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Made in Britain wurde die Arbeit Aldeburgh Boats für GBP 5.250,00 (€ 5.977,41) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 2.500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Margaret Mellis auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Scarlet Undercurrent im Juni 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 28.470,34).
