Auction result well in line with expectations

In June 2020 Sothebys in Paris held the auction Important Design, which included the work Unique Black Orgone Stretch Lounge Unique Orgone Stretch Lounge Noire by Marc Newson. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 600,000.00 – 800,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 612,500.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Marc Newson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Lockheed Lounge, which sold at auction in October 2017 for GBP 1,568,750.00 (€ 1,788,682.07).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im Juni 2020 führte Sothebys in Paris die Auktion Important Design durch, in der auch die Arbeit Unique Black Orgone Stretch Lounge Unique Orgone Stretch Lounge Noire von Marc Newson zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 600.000,00 – 800.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 612.500,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Marc Newson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Lockheed Lounge beobachtet, die im Oktober 2017 für GBP 1.568.750,00 (€ 1.788.682,07) versteigert wurde.
