Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Poem In Cursive Script Calligraphy by Mao Xiang was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in April 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 100,000.00 – 120,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 99,875.00 (€ 14,428.64). Admittedly, works by Mao Xiang have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy in Running Script in April last year with an auction result of HKD 819,000.00 (€ 99,023.06).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Poem In Cursive Script Calligraphy von Mao Xiang im April 2001 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 100.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 99.875,00 (€ 14.428,64) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mao Xiang auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy in Running Script im April letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 819.000,00 (€ 99.023,06).
