This artwork by Manoucher Yektai achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in May last year. In the Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art including On The Banks of the NileA Journey Through Egyptian Art auction, the work Newspaper and Brushes sold for GBP 120,000.00 (€ 141,168.58) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 60,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Manoucher Yektai; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Still Life sold at auction in May this year with the realized price of GBP 165,500.00 (€ 192,560.35).
