Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Makoto Aida achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2006. In the Asian Contemporary Art auction, the work Edible Artificial girls, Mi-Mi Chan sold for HKD 228,000.00 (€ 22,901.27) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Makoto Aida achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work ZAKU- (War Picture Returns- Side B) in November 2009 with an auction result of HKD 2,900,000.00 (€ 249,499.80).
