Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2014 Christies in London held the auction The I.Q. van Regteren Altena Collection. Part I, which included the work Studies of Roman sculpture: A fragment of a sarcophagus, an antique vase and a torso of Artemis (recto); A fantastical mountainous landscape with ruins (verso) by Maarten van Heemskerck. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 28,379.57) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maarten van Heemskerck achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Triumph Of Tobias in January 2015 with an auction result of USD 905,000.00 (€ 801,594.33).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2014 führte Christies in London die Auktion The I.Q. van Regteren Altena Collection. Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit Studies of Roman sculpture: A fragment of a sarcophagus, an antique vase and a torso of Artemis (recto); A fantastical mountainous landscape with ruins (verso) von Maarten van Heemskerck zur Versteigerung kam.
