Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Christ As The Man Of Sorrows by Maarten van Heemskerck was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 112,500.00 (€ 126,602.27) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Maarten van Heemskerck have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Triumph Of Tobias in January 2015 with an auction result of USD 905,000.00 (€ 801,594.33).

Die Arbeit Christ As The Man Of Sorrows von Maarten van Heemskerck wurde im Dezember 2017 in der Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 112.500,00 (€ 126.602,27) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Maarten van Heemskerck auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Triumph Of Tobias im Januar 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 905.000,00 (€ 801.594,33).
