Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Spanish A Musical Recital by Luis Alvarez Catalá was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 86,500.00 (€ 68,206.91). Other works by Luis Alvarez Catalá have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in October 2002 by the work A Difficult Decision at USD 71,700.00 (€ 72,563.51).

Als die Arbeit Spanish A Musical Recital von Luis Alvarez Catalá im Oktober 2008 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 86.500,00 (€ 68.206,91) den Besitzer.
