Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Belle Époque Splendor: The Discerning Eye of a Collector, which included the work An Astute Buyer by Luis Alvarez Catalá. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 7,560.00 (€ 7,045.01) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Luis Alvarez Catalá achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Difficult Decision in October 2002 with an auction result of USD 71,700.00 (€ 72,563.51).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Belle Époque Splendor: The Discerning Eye of a Collector durch, in der auch die Arbeit An Astute Buyer von Luis Alvarez Catalá zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 7.560,00 (€ 7.045,01) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Luis Alvarez Catalá erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Difficult Decision im Oktober 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 71.700,00 (€ 72.563,51).
