Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The U.S.S. Congress lying at her mooring off Naples by Luigi Roberto was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,792.50 (€ 1,440.80). Other works by Luigi Roberto have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2003 by the work The Greve Frijs under full sail in the Mediterranean; and The Greve Frijs under reduced sail in a swell at GBP 1,880.00 (€ 2,619.31).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The U.S.S. Congress lying at her mooring off Naples von Luigi Roberto im Februar 2004 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.792,50 (€ 1.440,80) den Besitzer.
