Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2010 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work The Jersey ketch Hero in Mediterranean waters (illustrated); and The Jersey ketch Hero reefed-down in heavy seas by Luigi Roberto. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 937.50 (€ 1,120.31), 17% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Luigi Roberto - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Greve Frijs under full sail in the Mediterranean; and The Greve Frijs under reduced sail in a swell, which sold at auction in May 2003 for GBP 1,880.00 (€ 2,619.31).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Jersey ketch Hero in Mediterranean waters (illustrated); and The Jersey ketch Hero reefed-down in heavy seas von Luigi Roberto zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 937,50 (€ 1.120,31) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Luigi Roberto mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Greve Frijs under full sail in the Mediterranean; and The Greve Frijs under reduced sail in a swell beobachtet, die im Mai 2003 für GBP 1.880,00 (€ 2.619,31) versteigert wurde.
