Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Luigi Roberto could be acquired at Christies in London in November 2003 for an unexpectedly low price. In the MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES auction, the work S.S. Trekieve of St. Ives entering the Bay of Naples, 1888 changed hands for GBP 587.50 (€ 843.36) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Luigi Roberto - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Greve Frijs under full sail in the Mediterranean; and The Greve Frijs under reduced sail in a swell, which sold at auction in May 2003 for GBP 1,880.00 (€ 2,619.31).
