Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Royal Yacht Squadron's schooner Sunrise under full sail; and Under reduced sail and riding out the storm by Luigi Roberto was sold in the Maritime auction at Christies in London in May 2008. It changed hands for a price of GBP 750.00 (€ 954.03) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Luigi Roberto - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Greve Frijs under full sail in the Mediterranean; and The Greve Frijs under reduced sail in a swell, which sold at auction in May 2003 for GBP 1,880.00 (€ 2,619.31).

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 750,00 (€ 954,03) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Luigi Roberto mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Greve Frijs under full sail in the Mediterranean; and The Greve Frijs under reduced sail in a swell beobachtet, die im Mai 2003 für GBP 1.880,00 (€ 2.619,31) versteigert wurde.
