Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Fishing Pink Being Made Ready To Be Launched From A Beach In A Breeze, With Small Dutch Vessels Inshore by Ludolf Bakhuizen was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 175,000.00 (€ 196,936.87) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Ludolf Bakhuizen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A States Yacht and other ships on the sea in stormy weather in July last year with an auction result of GBP 730,800.00 (€ 872,705.00).
