Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dutch shipping off a coast with a town in the distance; and Shipping off port with mountains behind by Ludolf Bakhuizen was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours auction at Christies in London in July 2017. The price achieved of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,184.42) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ludolf Bakhuizen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A States Yacht and other ships on the sea in stormy weather in July last year with an auction result of GBP 730,800.00 (€ 872,705.00).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 3.750,00 (€ 4.184,42) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ludolf Bakhuizen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A States Yacht and other ships on the sea in stormy weather im Juli letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 730.800,00 (€ 872.705,00).
