Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Rocky Landscape With Travellers On A Path, With A View Of A Town, Believed To Be Huy, In The Valley Beyond by Lucas van Valckenborch was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in July 2016. It changed hands for a price of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 89,116.22) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucas van Valckenborch achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Summer: the Harvest ('Le Repas de Paysans') in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 2,840,000.00 (€ 2,079,062.96).

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 75.000,00 (€ 89.116,22) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 60.000,00 – 80.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lucas van Valckenborch erzielen.
