Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work Venus and Cupid, a landscape beyond by Luca Giordano. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 88,200.00 (€ 105,204.10) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Luca Giordano achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Martyrdom of Saint Bartholomew in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 962,500.00 (€ 1,214,015.12).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Venus and Cupid, a landscape beyond von Luca Giordano zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 88.200,00 (€ 105.204,10) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Luca Giordano erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Martyrdom of Saint Bartholomew im Juli 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 962.500,00 (€ 1.214.015,12).
