Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Luca Giordano could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master and British Works on Paper auction, the work St. Francis and St. Andrew changed hands for USD 3,780.00 (€ 3,371.39) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Luca Giordano achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Martyrdom of Saint Bartholomew in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 962,500.00 (€ 1,214,015.12).
