Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2024 Christies in New York held the auction Old Masters, which included the work Charity by Luca Giordano. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 302,400.00 (€ 264,289.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Luca Giordano have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Martyrdom of Saint Bartholomew in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 962,500.00 (€ 1,214,015.12).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2024 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Masters durch, in der auch die Arbeit Charity von Luca Giordano zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 302.400,00 (€ 264.289,46) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Luca Giordano auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Martyrdom of Saint Bartholomew im Juli 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 962.500,00 (€ 1.214.015,12).
