Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2020 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Paintings & Sculpture, which included the work The Education of the Virgin by Luca Giordano. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 12,548.52) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Luca Giordano achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Martyrdom of Saint Bartholomew in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 962,500.00 (€ 1,214,015.12).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2020 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Masters Paintings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Education of the Virgin von Luca Giordano zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 12.548,52) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Luca Giordano erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Martyrdom of Saint Bartholomew im Juli 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 962.500,00 (€ 1.214.015,12).
