Auction result well in line with expectations

The work The Church of San Giorgio Maggiore and the Grand Canal, Venice by Luca Carlevarijs was sold in the Old Masters & 19th Century Art Including Select Works From the Salander-O'Reilly Galleries auction at Christies in New York in June 2010. The price achieved of USD 602,500.00 (€ 490,196.08) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Luca Carlevarijs - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Venice: The Rialto Bridge from the North; and The Piazza San Marco, which sold at auction in December 2003 for GBP 1,125,250.00 (€ 1,593,769.19).
