LUC TUYMANS (B. 1958) Zayin signed and numbered 'Luc Tuymans Wilfried Adams 29' (on the last page) thirteen screenprints in colours and thirteen poems, in a linen covered handbound book 25.5 x 19 x 1cm. Executed in 1992, this book is number twenty-nine from an edition of seventy plus seven artist's proofs
Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Zayin by Luc Tuymans was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 756.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Luc Tuymans achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mrs. in February 2016 with an auction result of GBP 1,482,500.00 (€ 1,899,640.69).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Zayin von Luc Tuymans im November letzten Jahres bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 756,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Luc Tuymans erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Mrs. im Februar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.482.500,00 (€ 1.899.640,69).
