Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2002 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work Mills on Haarlem, Zeere; near Overschie by Louis Van Staaten. It changed hands for a price of GBP 881.25 (€ 1,393.98) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 700.00 – 900.00. Other works by Louis Van Staaten have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in February 2000 the work Figures on barges in a Dutch port; and A Dutch canal scene was auctioned for GBP 977.50 (€ 1,599.60).
