Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March 2002 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work A figure carrying water before a village in a dutch landscape by Louis Van Staaten. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 350.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 376.00 (€ 614.66). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louis Van Staaten - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Figures on barges in a Dutch port; and A Dutch canal scene, which sold at auction in February 2000 for GBP 977.50 (€ 1,599.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A figure carrying water before a village in a dutch landscape von Louis Van Staaten zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 350,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 376,00 (€ 614,66) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Louis Van Staaten mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Figures on barges in a Dutch port; and A Dutch canal scene beobachtet, die im Februar 2000 für GBP 977,50 (€ 1.599,60) versteigert wurde.
