The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,577.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Louis-Joseph Watteau have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work La Récréation Des Moissonneurs; La Famille Villageoise in June 2009 with an auction result of EUR 36,750.00.

Die Arbeit Study Of A Young Man In Commedia Dell'Arte Costume von Louis-Joseph Watteau kam im Juli 2020 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.000,00 (€ 5.577,12) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Louis-Joseph Watteau auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit La Récréation Des Moissonneurs; La Famille Villageoise im Juni 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 36.750,00.
