Despite a disappointment, a good price for Louis-Emile Durandelle
When the work Le Nouvel Opera de Paris par Charles Garnier, Paris: Ducher et Cie, 1875-81 by Louis-Emile Durandelle was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 17,625.00 (€ 29,548.71). Despite this disappointing result, Le Nouvel Opera de Paris par Charles Garnier, Paris: Ducher et Cie, 1875-81 is the most expensive artwork by Louis-Emile Durandelle that we have observed at auction so far.
