Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work French a Moroccan In Repose by Louis Auguste Girardot was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in February 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,000.00 (€ 3,275.73). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis Auguste Girardot achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work French A Girl From Morocco in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 52,850.00 (€ 63,899.62).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit French a Moroccan In Repose von Louis Auguste Girardot im Februar 2018 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.000,00 (€ 3.275,73) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Louis Auguste Girardot erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit French A Girl From Morocco im November 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 52.850,00 (€ 63.899,62).
