Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Risle At Le Riviere Thibouville by Louis Aston Knight was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,841.82). Admittedly, works by Louis Aston Knight have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Cottage in Spring, Normandy in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 52,875.00 (€ 62,308.51).
