Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Rake and Vine and Forest Dogwood at Twilight, California 2 by Lou Stoumen was auctioned at Bonhams in December last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,530.00 (€ 1,430.17). Admittedly, works by Lou Stoumen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Forty Years: Lou Stoumen in October 2010 with an auction result of USD 10,000.00 (€ 7,197.35).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Rake and Vine and Forest Dogwood at Twilight, California 2 von Lou Stoumen im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.530,00 (€ 1.430,17) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lou Stoumen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Forty Years: Lou Stoumen im Oktober 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 10.000,00 (€ 7.197,35).
