This artwork by Lorna Selim achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Dubai in March 2019. In the Middle Eastern Modern & Contemporary Art auction, the work Sinak Area Baghdad in 1969 sold for USD 8,125.00 (€ 7,236.37) - well above the upper estimate of USD 4,000.00. Admittedly, works by Lorna Selim have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Baghdadiyat in June 2020 with an auction result of GBP 52,562.00 (€ 57,887.93).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Lorna Selim erzielte im März 2019 bei Christies in Dubai einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Middle Eastern Modern & Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Sinak Area Baghdad in 1969 für USD 8.125,00 (€ 7.236,37) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 4.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lorna Selim auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Baghdadiyat im Juni 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 52.562,00 (€ 57.887,93).
