It achieved a price of EUR 7,500.00 exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25 %. Admittedly, works by Lodewijk Johannes Kleijn have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Skaters on a frozen waterway, a mansion beyond in April 2001 with an auction result of NLG 152,750.00 (€ 70,109.39).

Die Arbeit Skaters on the ice near a windmill; and Fishing by the river in summer von Lodewijk Johannes Kleijn wurde im Oktober 2009 in der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Art bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von EUR 7.500,00 und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 25 %. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lodewijk Johannes Kleijn auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Skaters on a frozen waterway, a mansion beyond im April 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von NLG 152.750,00 (€ 70.109,39).
