Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dutch Washer Women At The Water Front by Lodewijk Johannes Kleijn was sold in the 19th Century European Paintings auction at Sothebys in Amsterdam in April 2009. The price achieved of EUR 6,250.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lodewijk Johannes Kleijn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Skaters on a frozen waterway, a mansion beyond in April 2001 with an auction result of NLG 152,750.00 (€ 70,109.39).
