In April 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work Napua O Wailea by Lloyd Sexton Jr.. The result of USD 10,000.00 (€ 8,958.97) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lloyd Sexton Jr. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calm Seas in a Hawaiian Cove in August last year with an auction result of USD 138,975.00 (€ 138,077.50).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im April 2015 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Napua O Wailea von Lloyd Sexton Jr. zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 10.000,00 (€ 8.958,97) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lloyd Sexton Jr. erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Calm Seas in a Hawaiian Cove im August letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 138.975,00 (€ 138.077,50).
