In June 2007 Christies in New York held the auction The House Sale, which included the work Midday Rest by Lionel Percy Smythe. The »bidding war« ended at USD 13,200.00 (€ 9,763.31), 65% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lionel Percy Smythe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Boulogne Fisher-Folk, An Impression in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 78,500.00 (€ 106,668.18).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 65 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2007 führte Christies in New York die Auktion The House Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Midday Rest von Lionel Percy Smythe zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 13.200,00 (€ 9.763,31) und damit 65% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lionel Percy Smythe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Boulogne Fisher-Folk, An Impression im Dezember 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 78.500,00 (€ 106.668,18).
