Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Hero of our Century by Lionel Percy Smythe was sold in the British Art on Paper including Victorian Watercolours from auction at Christies in London in June 2004. The price achieved of GBP 2,151.00 (€ 3,201.33) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lionel Percy Smythe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Boulogne Fisher-Folk, An Impression in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 78,500.00 (€ 106,668.18).

Die Arbeit A Hero of our Century von Lionel Percy Smythe wurde im Juni 2004 in der Auktion British Art on Paper including Victorian Watercolours from bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.151,00 (€ 3.201,33) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lionel Percy Smythe erzielen.
