In September 2002 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS, which included the work Gleaners by Lionel Percy Smythe. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,232.50 (€ 3,547.96), 49% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lionel Percy Smythe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Boulogne Fisher-Folk, An Impression in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 78,500.00 (€ 106,668.18).

Im September 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Gleaners von Lionel Percy Smythe zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.232,50 (€ 3.547,96) und damit 49% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lionel Percy Smythe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Boulogne Fisher-Folk, An Impression im Dezember 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 78.500,00 (€ 106.668,18).
