Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2003 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper, which included the work Cottage near Haslemere, Surrey by Lilian Stannard. The price achieved of GBP 2,151.00 (€ 3,087.79) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,800.00 – 2,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lilian Stannard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Leading To The Orchard, which sold at auction in June 2001 for GBP 4,935.00 (€ 8,198.02).
