Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Two magnificent First Rates: H.M.S. Trafalgar and H.M.S. Queen lying off the Royal Dockyard at Sheerness by Robert Strickland Thomas was sold in the Important Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in October 2007. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 31,700.00 (€ 45,523.29). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Strickland Thomas - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The British fleet in action at Trafalgar, with Nelson's Victory heavily engaged; and After the close of the action, which sold at auction in October 2007 for GBP 96,500.00 (€ 138,580.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Two magnificent First Rates: H.M.S. Trafalgar and H.M.S. Queen lying off the Royal Dockyard at Sheerness von Robert Strickland Thomas wurde im Oktober 2007 in der Auktion Important Maritime Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 30.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 31.700,00 (€ 45.523,29) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Robert Strickland Thomas mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The British fleet in action at Trafalgar, with Nelson's Victory heavily engaged; and After the close of the action beobachtet, die im Oktober 2007 für GBP 96.500,00 (€ 138.580,35) versteigert wurde.
