Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2003 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures and Works on Paper, which included the work A tune for a loved one by Léon Herbo. The price achieved of GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,518.29) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Léon Herbo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of an Art Connoisseur, possibly Ira Aldridge in October 2021 with an auction result of USD 137,500.00 (€ 119,027.01).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Pictures and Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit A tune for a loved one von Léon Herbo zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.057,50 (€ 1.518,29) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Léon Herbo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of an Art Connoisseur, possibly Ira Aldridge im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 137.500,00 (€ 119.027,01).
