Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Leo Whelan could be acquired at Sothebys in Paris in May last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Ireland / France: Art & Literature auction, the work The Artist's Niece Lena | La nièce de l'artiste, Lena changed hands for EUR 2,520.00 - missing the lower end of the estimate range of EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leo Whelan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Letter in September 2016 with an auction result of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 27,505.45).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Leo Whelan konnte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in Paris für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Ireland / France: Art & Literature wechselte die Arbeit The Artist's Niece Lena | La nièce de l'artiste, Lena für EUR 2.520,00 den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Leo Whelan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Letter im September 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 23.750,00 (€ 27.505,45).
