Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction A Living Legacy: Irish Art from the Collection of Brian P. Burns, which included the work The Artist'S Niece Lena by Leo Whelan. The price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,164.75) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Leo Whelan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Letter, which sold at auction in September 2016 for GBP 23,750.00 (€ 27,505.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2018 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion A Living Legacy: Irish Art from the Collection of Brian P. Burns durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Artist'S Niece Lena von Leo Whelan zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.164,75) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Leo Whelan mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Letter beobachtet, die im September 2016 für GBP 23.750,00 (€ 27.505,45) versteigert wurde.
