This artwork by Leo Whelan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2006. In the Irish Sale Part II auction, the work Portrait of Major Middleton O'Malley Keyes sold for GBP 1,560.00 (€ 2,277.09) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leo Whelan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Letter in September 2016 with an auction result of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 27,505.45).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Leo Whelan erzielte im Mai 2006 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Irish Sale Part II wurde die Arbeit Portrait of Major Middleton O'Malley Keyes für GBP 1.560,00 (€ 2.277,09) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 800,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Leo Whelan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Letter im September 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 23.750,00 (€ 27.505,45).
