This artwork by Lee Mullican achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Los Angeles in June 2020. In the Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art auction, the work Growing Wild, 1981 sold for USD 18,825.00 (€ 16,761.64) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Lee Mullican have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bright Path, 1967 in September last year with an auction result of USD 69,675.00 (€ 71,220.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Lee Mullican erzielte im Juni 2020 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Growing Wild, 1981 für USD 18.825,00 (€ 16.761,64) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 7.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lee Mullican auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Bright Path, 1967 im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 69.675,00 (€ 71.220,48).
