Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price

When the work Le Mont-Blanc vu de Sallanches by Leberecht Lortet was auctioned at Christies in Paris in December 2002, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 1,800.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at EUR 5,405.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Leberecht Lortet; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot An Alpine torrent sold at auction in March 2002 with the realized price of GBP 4,935.00 (€ 8,067.43).

Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert

Als die Arbeit Le Mont-Blanc vu de Sallanches von Leberecht Lortet im Dezember 2002 bei Christies in Paris versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – EUR 1.800,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit EUR 5.405,00 mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Leberecht Lortet; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit An Alpine torrent im März 2002 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 4.935,00 (€ 8.067,43).
