The work A box of hyakunin isshu poem cards and an adonis flower by Kitao Shigemasa was worth USD 8,820.00 (€ 9,015.64) to a buyer in September last year. This price was achieved in the auction Japanese and Korean Art at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 2,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Kitao Shigemasa; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot La première, période Edo (1615-1868), fin du 18e et début 19e siècle ; la seconde, probablement ère Showa (1926-1989), début du 20e siècle sold at auction in October this year with the realized price of EUR 11,520.00.
