Despite a disappointment, a good price for Ken Kitano
When the work "Piling Portraits of 30 Geikos and Maikos Dancing the Special Kyo Dance in the Spring, Miyagawa Town, Kyoto", 2003 by Ken Kitano was auctioned at Bukowski in Stockholm in October this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of SEK 12,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for SEK 10,000.00 (€ 846.90). Despite this disappointing result, "Piling Portraits of 30 Geikos and Maikos Dancing the Special Kyo Dance in the Spring, Miyagawa Town, Kyoto", 2003 is the most expensive artwork by Ken Kitano that we have observed at auction so far.
